Following the Hannover Messe we will, of course, also be at the world-wide leading trade fair for wind energy, WindEnergy Hamburg. Here, we will present our new software tool for the design and optimisation of offshore wind farms: Wind & Economy. Leading prediction models for wind climate and wind farm effects, together with a calculation of the uncertainties of wind energy production and the LCOE, help you to reduce the costs and risks of energy production.
First Paris and Copenhagen, now at the Hannover Messe: Overspeed has introduced its new software product for optimizing offshore wind farms. The goal of the software is to reduce electricity production costs from offshore wind farms and to increase the effectiveness of the planning teams. In addition, the cost and energy output uncertainty is calculated for each wind farm variant in order to reduce the risks to later investors.
At the EWEA 2015 in Paris, Dr. Hans-Peter Waldl, Managing Director of Overspeed, introduced the new product "Wind & Economy" to onshore participants as part of a workshop. The software for optimised planning of large wind farms on sea and land, developed within the framework of the EU project “EERA-DTOC”, was met with interest by companies from Norway, the USA and Germany.
The EU sponsored development project EERA-DTOC (Design Tool for Offshore Wind Farm Clusters) was successfully concluded in May. For three and a half years, 22 important industrial partners from 10 EU countries worked with the goal of bringing a software tool to market which eases the design of offshore wind farms, supports their optimisation and makes offshore wind farm investment risks more transparent.
What can we do to support wind farm developers? The answer is given by the Wind & Economy Offshore Wind Farm Optimisation Tool which was presented at this year’s DEWEK Wind Energy Conference. Dr. Waldl, managing director of Overspeed, together with representatives from DTU Wind Energy (Denmark) and ECN (The Netherlands) demonstrated the software’s benefits: “To speed up the wind farm development process” and “To bring down development costs”.
At the Offshore Wind Energy Conference in Copenhagen, Overspeed presented the new Wind & Economy software tool for the optimization of offshore wind farms. In a workshop with over 50 participants, Dr. Waldl, managing director of Overspeed, presented the new product to significantly reduce the cost of offshore wind farms. “Through closely combining models for wind potential with shadowing effects in wind farms and the economic viability of electricity from offshore wind projects, we give the user the ability to place the economic optimisation of wind farms at the forefront right from the start.”, so Dr. Waldl.
